Who’s Wrong Tangent

0

Who decides right from wrong?

I know I do. I decide in my own life what is right and what is wrong. Sometime I knowingly make the wrong choice because doing the ‘right’ thing can be boring.

Yes, there are general norms for society on rights and wrongs that I think people should genuinely want to live by. Examples being, not murdering people, helping people in need, respecting your elders and caring for our children.

We need more people to stand up and make different decisions. Maybe its wearing a blue shirt on red shirt day or saying no to the passing bowl. Maybe you don’t pick on that kid but instead stand up for him. Just because someone is popular, rich or pretty does not mean that they make all the right decisions.

It’s scary being the odd one out but much, much more rewarding. Remember to make your own decisions and stand by them. If it felt right, it was right.

Empower yourself.

That’s just my opinion.

Hospital Tangent

0

I get it, lots of people are in a hospital at all times with various needs. But is this really the most efficient way to help the injured, sick and dying? I took a friend to the hospital today and here is how it goes…

– Check in and get a wristband

– Wait

– Answer questions from the same person who gave you a wristband

– Wait

– Triage

– Wait

– Get a room

– Wait

– Nurse 1 enters gets insurance info

-Wait

– Nurse 2 rolls by with that cart and gathers even more information

-Wait

– Nurse 3 comes in and tells you all the same things and has you re say all the same things then she tells you she is going to talk to the doctor to make some decisions

– Wait

– Nurse 3 returns with game plan

– Wait

– Doctor (or maybe Nurse 3 again to take some extra tests)

-Wait

-Wait

– Nurse 1 is back for…hard to say

– Wait

– Doctor comes to give results and options

– Wait

– Get admitted or get discharge paperwork (may also include prescription you have to find time to fill)

If you have made it all the way to this point I’m sure you feel like you wasted your time, just a little bit. Which is exactly how I felt, but you read this in a min or two and I spent six hours in a hospital today. Don’t get me wrong, I would do it again right now for any one of the people in my life. But…wooooow, My friend got right in because you could see his pain. But what about that sad woman over there who is crying and alone, she also appears to be in a ton of pain. I am grateful the my friend was able to get into the ER as quickly as he did, but why can’t the whole process be that way for everyone?

I’m not a doctor or a nurse so there is more to the story than I know, I’m sure, good thing it’s not a crime to question why things are the way they are.

Never be afraid to question. That’s just my opinion.

No One Likes Me

0

Dear Street Sage –

At work I feel as if no one likes me. I don’t understand, I’m friendly and I make jokes. My co workers are nice to my face, but I can tell they don’t really like me. I just think everyone is stuck up. What do you suggest for me to do to find my way into the “in” crowd?

– C.H.

Dear C.H.-

First of all, this is not high school. This is your place of employment. All I know about you is what you told me with three sentences. My suggestion is that you take a look at yourself and your actions. If you are telling me this is the vibe you are getting from all of your co workers, then maybe it’s you and not them. You say you are friendly, are you overly friendly? Boarder line creepy maybe? I do not know if you are male or female even, but maybe you give off a bad vibe to the opposite sex and they avoid you because of it. You say that you make jokes, but you do realize you are at work right? Are your jokes appropriate? You think your co workers are all stuck up, but how do they treat each other and others who aren’t in the “in” crowd? With the very little I know about you, I would suggest you check yourself a bit and get back to me.

That’s just my opinion.
